The Colour of Divinity
How many heads leaned on your cool flagstones?
Which words took softly place in your joints
Nestled up to your smooth surface
Before they floated to heaven
Where they belonged
Have you ever noticed them?
And if yes: Do you remember them?
I think you do.
There’s a reason the painted you in the colour of infinity.
How many heated bodies did you cool?
How many leaned their backs on you
Rested at your feet on hot days
Did you count them?
And if yes: Do you miss them now?
I think you do.
There’s a reason you carry the colour of longing.
How many people
Collapsed in front of your eyes
Tired from this cruel world
How many souls bowed before you
Just after they had left their bodies?
Do you remember their wounds?
And if yes: Do you wish you could forget them?
I think you do.
There’s a reason you carry the colour of the cold.
Do you remember when they separated you
From your House of Worship?
And when they took you away to this foreign place?
Did you think anything?
Did you feel anything?
And if yes: Were you scared?
I think you were.
There is a reason they painted you in the colour of the night.
And now you’re here
Betrayed from those who once admired you
Separated from those who worshiped you
But also loved, from those who now admire you
Those you remind of their own longing
And those who give you a loving home
Do you enjoy it?
And if yes: Does it scare you sometimes?
I think it does.
There’s a reason you carry the colour of inscrutability.
Do they still whisper their secrets to you?
Do they share their dearest wishes?
And do they ever come true?
And if yes: Do you have something to do with it?
I think you do.
There’s a reason the gave you the colour of divinity.
